The Pietà is a art work by Michelangelo Di Ludovico Buonarroti Simon also know as Michelangelo. The sculpture of the virgin mary holding the dead body of Jesus Christ on her lap in her arms. The Pietà was made in 1498 to 1499 it was completed in it took Michelangelo just 1 year to complete his work. This art work is different because the cloth around mary is very large compared to the body of Christ. The sculpture it's self in made of carrara marble. It is the only piece Michelangelo ever signed. its current place is in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City.
